That from the power of water we can obtain energy is a very ancient knowledge. The Francis turbine was developed as early as 1849 by James B. Francis and since then the working principle has remained almost unchanged. The effectiveness and the functional details make this overpressure hydraulic turbine an adaptable and solid energy source.

The Francis turbine is the ideal solution for falls between 10 and 100 meters, with a medium water flow.

In this type of turbine the water is conveyed via a spiral duct, towards the impeller. The blades can be adapted according to the water flow rate, adapting accordingly also to the variations in water pressure caused, for example, by changing atmospheric conditions and seasons. The water starts the curved blades of the impeller, in turn directly connected to the generator. The Francis turbine requires considerable constructive effort but convinces with its efficiency at full capacity.
